
Getting Your Amsler Blow Molding Lamps Right
If you’re running a PET blow molding line, you know the drill. You rely on shortwave IR lamps to get those preforms up to temperature fast. But when a lamp goes out, the last thing you want is a project. You don’t want to spend your afternoon rewiring the oven or hacking away at lamp holders just to get a replacement to fit. That’s why we build our lamps to be a true drop-in. We mirror the OEM footprint and electrical load exactly. It just works. Whether your machine is brand new or a seasoned veteran, these fit about 95% of the blowing machines out there. The heat side of things These lamps are built for raw power. We calibrate them for high-wattage density—usually running on 230V or 400V—because you need to jam as much heat into that PET wall as possible in a few short seconds. But here is the catch: all that heat needs a way out. Make sure your cooling fans are actually doing their job. If your airflow is choked, the housing will overheat, and you’ll end up burning through your filaments way faster than you should. Built to last (and fit) We use heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because it handles thermal shock without cracking. We also use a halogen cycle to keep the tungsten filament from evaporating too quickly, which means you aren’t swapping bulbs every other week. As for the ends, we stick with standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re the industry gold standard for a reason. You just slide the lamp into the socket, lock it in, and you’re done. No fighting with the fit. No frustration. Why a few millimeters actually matter In PET production, consistency is everything. If a lamp is off by even 5mm, you get an air gap. That creates a “cold spot” in the preform, which leads to uneven walls and bottles that fail during the blow cycle. It’s a headache you don’t need. We keep our tolerances incredibly tight on length and wattage. This means you can swap a bulb and keep moving without having to mess with your oven temperature settings. Plus, we keep these in stock. You won’t have to deal with those agonizing OEM lead times that leave your line sitting idle.
