
Stop Getting Locked Into Your OEM’s Lamp Specs
If you run a PET blow molding line, you know the headache. Most manufacturers design their lamps with proprietary specs just to keep you buying from them. It’s a trap. We decided to build something different. By sticking to the actual physics of shortwave radiation and using footprints that actually make sense, we’ve created lamps that just work. Whether you’re running Sidel systems or almost any other global equipment, these are designed to be a simple drop-in replacement.
Let’s talk specs
Getting compatibility right isn’t about guessing. It’s about matching the electrical and thermal load. We offer a bunch of options, usually between 230V and 400V. If you’re dealing with thick-walled preforms, a 400V high-output tube is your best bet. It gives you the heat density you need to speed up your cycle times. But here’s the catch: if you’re pushing 2500W through a small tube, your oven’s reflectors are going to feel it. Just make sure your cooling blowers are up to the task, or you’ll risk overheating the oven shell.
The nuts and bolts
We use high-purity quartz glass and fill it with halogen gas. This lets the filament get hotter without burning out. As for the fit? We use standard connectors like R7s and Sk15. That means you can swap them out without having to rewire your entire rack. Plus, we use specific coatings to tune the wavelength. It’s a small detail, but it’s a big deal. It ensures the heat actually gets into the PET resin instead of just scorching the surface of the bottle.
Real-world use
When you put these into a Sidel machine, the goal is simple: uniform heat. We keep the length and diameter tolerances incredibly tight. If the fit is too loose, you get arcing. Too tight, and the quartz cracks as it expands from the heat. We’ve found the sweet spot so you can just plug them in and get back to work. These lamps take a beating in 24/7 production. It’s a brutal environment. But that halogen cycle we mentioned? It keeps the tungsten filament alive much longer, so you aren’t spending your weekends replacing burnt-out tubes.
