Why the “Small Stuff” Matters

A Quick Reality Check
Now, a beefier lamp helps, but it isn’t magic. It won’t save a machine that’s being neglected. If your cooling fans are choked with dust or your voltage regulators are drifting, any lamp you put in there is going to fry. High-density IR puts a massive strain on your power supply. Do yourself a favor: check your current draws before you wire up a fresh bank of replacements. It’s a lot better to spend a few minutes checking the power than to spend your whole shift swapping out dead tubes. You’ll spend less time tinkering and more time actually running the line.
