
Stop Waiting for Your Oven to Heat Up
Let’s be honest: waiting for a convection oven to preheat is a pain. You’re basically just moving hot air around, and it takes forever to actually get the job done. We found a better way. Instead of relying on air, we use 220V short-wave infrared (IR) emitters. It basically cuts out the middleman. Instead of heating the air, which then heats the food, the IR hits your target directly. We’re talking about moving from “minutes” to “seconds.”
Why it actually works
Here’s the thing. A 220V IR emitter uses a tungsten filament tucked inside a quartz envelope. While a normal heating element spends ages warming up the entire oven cavity, IR radiation works through electromagnetic waves. It’s nearly instant. The second you flip the switch, that filament hits its temperature in milliseconds. No more staring at a timer or wasting time while the oven “gets up to speed.” It just happens.
Fitting it into your setup
We designed these to be compact, so they don’t take up much room. The quartz glass is key—it lets the IR rays through while keeping the filament safe from oxidation. Plus, since they run on 220V, you can usually just plug them into a standard commercial power grid. No messy transformers or electrical nightmares. One heads-up, though:placement is everything. IR is line-of-sight. If something is blocking the ray, that spot stays cold. You have to position them carefully to make sure you aren’t creating “shadows” on your product.
A few things to keep in mind
Moving to IR does give you a massive jump in heat density. That’s great for saving energy because you aren’t idling for twenty minutes, but it does put more pressure on your oven’s insulation. You’ll want to make sure your chassis can handle those heat spikes right where the emitters are mounted. And be careful with the wattage. If you cram too much power into a tiny space, you’ll scorch the outside of your food before the middle is even warm. It’s all about finding that sweet spot for your specific load so you don’t burn anything out.
