Introduction
We build custom PETC preform heater lamps, designed from the ground up to live inside your Husky HyPET high-speed systems. Their whole job? To blast heat deep and evenly across the preform wall. The result? You get rock-solid stretch ratios and consistent bottle quality, even when you’re running at top speed.
Technical Deep-Dive: Power, Voltage, and Geometry
Here’s the thing about a HyPET line: the heater has to pack a ton of heat into a tiny space. So we shape the lamp to perfectly match your machine’s heating tunnel. That way, the preform gets hit with even heat across the whole zone. The electrical design is just as intentional. We run the lamp at a higher voltage, which means less current for the same power. Less current keeps the wiring and connections cooler, which is huge for surviving those constant heating and cooling cycles. A 400V setup gives you the power you need for fast, deep heating. But it also means your machine’s electrical system and cooling have to be up to the task. If the cooling can’t keep pace, the ends of the lamp run too hot, and that cuts its life short.
Material & Design: Halogen, Coating, and Connectors
We build these with halogen inside a quartz envelope. Why? Because it gives you stable, shortwave heat that responds instantly and holds steady. The quartz body can take the shock of rapid on-and-off cycles without cracking. The coating on the lamp is carefully chosen to spread the radiant heat just right. This helps the preform heat evenly, so you avoid hot spots that can lead to weak necks or blown parisons. And for installation, we use an R7s connector. It’s a simple drop-in replacement that wires up fast. The double-ended connection gives you stable contact, cutting down on failures caused by arcing and loose connections.
Application & Benefits: Husky HyPET Performance
In a Husky HyPET system, the preform is moving at lightning speed. Getting that deep, penetrating heat isn’t about just cranking up the temperature. It’s about nailing the right spectral output and the right amount of dwell time across the preform wall. We tailor the lamp’s power and geometry to match the HyPET heating profile. That means faster heat-up, better uniformity, and way fewer rejects. And the real win? Uptime. A properly sized, coated halogen lamp with an R7s interface installs quickly, stays aligned, and holds up under the pressure of maximum throughput. Less risk of burnout. More time producing.
