
Stop the Burn-outs on Your SIG Blomax Lines
If you’re running SIG Blomax lines, you know the headache of tube burn-outs. It’s frustrating. One minute everything is humming along, and the next, a lamp pops, the line stops, and you’re scrambling. Most of the time, it’s just a mix of thermal shock and constant vibration. Standard lamps aren’t really built for the chaos of a high-speed PET oven. That’s why we built our reinforced replacements—to actually handle the beating these machines put them through. Getting the heat right The goal is simple: get that preform to the glass transition temperature without scorching it. We’ve pushed the wattage on these lamps so you don’t have to slow down your line to get the heat you need. We use high-voltage setups to keep the footprint small but the energy high. It’s plenty of power for rapid heating. Just a heads-up: keep an eye on your power supply. If your voltage is spiking, it’ll kill any tube, no matter how tough we make it. Built to last, not just to fit We switched to heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because it stops the tubes from bowing or snapping when things get hot. We also tightened the tolerances on the filaments. By keeping them perfectly centered, we get rid of those annoying hot spots on the glass. And since vibration is the enemy, we use industrial-grade pins for the connectors. They stay put. No loosening, no arcing, and way fewer premature failures than the generic stuff. What to expect during install The best part? These are drop-in replacements. You don’t have to mess with your oven racks or rebuild anything. You’ll notice fewer line stops for lamp changes, which makes life a lot easier. One thing to watch for: because the glass is thicker, the heat soak time might shift a tiny bit. You might need to nudge your timer settings by a few seconds to get your PET temperature exactly where you want it. It’s a small tweak, but it’s worth it for a tube that doesn’t give up the ghost every few weeks.
